Community Rehearsal Grants

Grant Description

Grant Title: Community Rehearsal Grant

Grant Overview: Young adult applicants are invited to design their own “Community Rehearsal” events. “Community Rehearsal” events can be anything young adults imagine, so long as the events “build belonging amongst young adults of Boston.” Dance class? writing workshop? flash mob? painting lesson? art museum visit? cooking class? — the possibilities are endless, and we will follow your lead!

Young adult Community Leaders will select up to three winning proposals, and the young adult applicants will receive a $1,000 grant to fund their “Community Rehearsal” idea and make it a reality. If selected applicants choose to be a Event Leader of their own “Community Rehearsal,” they will receive an additional $500 gift card for their time and effort.

Application Components: Young adults must complete the application below to be considered for the grant. Applicants must describe their event idea and explain how it will build belonging amongst young adults. Applicants must also include a budget (up to $1,000) to fund their event.

Selection Criteria: Young adult Community Leaders will review all applications and judge the “Community Rehearsal” event ideas based on the following criteria:

  • Potential to build belonging amongst young adults of Boston— is the event inclusive? will it attract a large group of young adults? will young adults leave the event felling closer to their community?

  • Creativity- is the event original and interesting to young adults? does it make young adults excited?

  • Feasibility- will it be possible to plan the event in 2 - 6 months? is the budget realistic?

Qualifications: Young adults must be 14-24 years old to apply. We especially welcome applications from young adults who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC.

Application Timeline: Applications are due on October 15th, 2024. Up to four grant winners will be chosen before October 30th, 2024.
